About Ruby

Hi, I’m Maria Díaz, though most readers will come to know me as Ruby M. Temple-Xavier.
I’m a software developer by day and author by night, living in Calgary, Alberta with my husband, our son, and two mischievous cats who believe they’re my editors.

I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. Back in 2002, I posted an original fantasy story online and somehow gathered a small, loyal following. It was the first time I realized that stories could connect people — that imagination could become a bridge.

Then life happened: I fell in love, got married, biology degree, immigrated to Canada, earned my built a career in software development after graduating from UCalgary, and became a mother. For a while, writing took a back seat. But the worlds I created never stopped whispering. They waited patiently.

Now, I’m finally returning to them.

My debut fantasy romance novel, Entwined: Vulpine Moon, is the first in a series that’s lived in my head for years — a blend of magic, love, legacy, and dangerous choices. It’s a story about second chances, the price of power, and the quiet courage to face what binds us.

What I'm doing?

Through Zelladria Ink, my creative imprint and home base, I’m building a world that spans novels, short stories, lore, and personal essays — all orbiting the same heartbeat: connection through storytelling.

This space is for readers who crave emotion, complexity, and a touch of magic — where dragons exist, but so do fear, hope, and the ache of being human.

I’m currently revising Entwined: Vulpine Moon for publication, developing companion lore for the Zelladria universe, and sharing behind-the-scenes notes on my creative process, writing life, and worldbuilding.

What I Hope to Accomplish

My dream is simple:
To publish the stories that never let me go — the ones I started as a teenager and carried through every version of my life.

I want to connect with readers who see themselves in messy, brave, heart-driven characters; to create a community where stories feel alive and authors and readers coexist in conversation.

In the long run, I hope to build Zelladria Ink into an independent creative house — a place for myth, magic, and emotion. A space where words can feel like home.

If you’ve found your way here, thank you. You’re already part of this journey.

Welcome to Zelladria.
Welcome to my world.
